Trade-In Terms

Not a Straight-Swap Service

MR Laptop's Trade In & Upgrade service is not a straight swap, direct exchange or like-for-like trade. Your approved trade-in value can only be used as partial credit towards purchasing a higher-value replacement device from MR Laptop, and you must always pay a remaining balance. No cash is offered for traded-in devices, and no unused trade-in value is refunded or carried forward to a future purchase.

Provisional and Final Valuations

Any valuation given online or before your device is physically received is provisional only. The final trade-in value is confirmed after physical inspection at our Walsall store or on receipt of a posted device. Undisclosed faults, damage, missing parts, incorrect specifications, account locks or other issues found on inspection may change the valuation from the provisional figure originally given.

Ownership and Eligibility

You must own the device you are trading in, or have the authority of the owner to trade it in. We do not accept devices that are stolen, subject to an active finance agreement, protected by an activation lock, BIOS password or an account that cannot be signed out, or otherwise not authorised for trade-in.

Your Responsibilities Before Handover

You are responsible for backing up your data and removing your accounts, passwords and any device management before handing your device to us. See our Trade In & Upgrade page for full guidance.

Rejecting an Offer

You may decline a provisional or final offer at any point before the trade-in is completed, with no obligation to proceed.

Postal and Collection Arrangements

[OWNER TO CONFIRM] Who is responsible for return postage if a device is sent in and the customer later declines the offer.

Offer Expiry

Provisional offers remain valid for 7 days and final offers remain valid for 7 days from the date they are sent, unless stated otherwise on the offer itself. An expired offer must be requested again.

When Ownership Transfers

Unclaimed and Unsuitable Devices

[OWNER TO CONFIRM] How unclaimed devices are handled, and how devices found unsuitable for resale are returned or recycled, will be confirmed here after the owner and legal review.

Replacement Product Availability

Choosing a replacement product during your trade-in request does not reserve it. Availability is only confirmed at the point a reservation is made under our standard reservation terms. If your chosen replacement is no longer available, we will ask you to choose another product priced higher than your approved trade-in credit before completing the transaction.

How We Use Your Information

Personal details and photographs you submit are used only to provide your trade-in valuation and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

Data Erasure
